- PEACE AND HEALING CENTER -

The Creating Justice LA Peace and Healing Center provides economic, social, and environmental healing in an inclusive, accessible and equitable space. In partnership with The Hip Hop Smoothie Shop, Eayikes, Skid Row People’s Market, Skid Row Coffee, The Row Church, and Polo’s Pantry, the Peace and Healing Center serves as a resource for Skid Row residents, sheltered and unsheltered, to access free programming, nutritious food & drink, and all the benefits of a “third space”. Ray Oldenburg in “The Great Good Places” argues, “For healthy existence, citizens must live in a balance of three realms: home life, the workplace, and inclusively social places.”

Between rising rents, increasing homelessness, gentrification, structural violence and public health crises, we believe inclusively social spaces are vital to community health.

- LA REPAIR -

CJLA was awarded one of nine Peace and Healing Center grants by the LA Civil and Human Rights + Equity Department. The Peace and Healing Centers pilot program provides $2 million to community-based organizations to implement culturally-informed programming that addresses social, economic, and environmental harms created by institutional and structural racism. These centers will be located in nine neighborhoods called L.A. REPAIR Zones, which experience some of the highest levels of poverty, overcrowded housing, and pollution in the City of Los Angeles.
